Used on cars with automatic transmission, the flexplate is a versatile
component that acts as an interface between engine and gearbox. As
well as transmitting power, it has the strategic function of absorbing
the axial displacements of the torque converter by flexion of the
steel (hence the “flex”). But that is not all: the flexplate also acts as a
support for the crown gear, through which the starter motor engages,
while the phonic wheel of the flexplate measures the position and the
rotation speed of the crankshaft. A technological product with high
added value, of which AGLA produces around 40,000 pieces a year.
